Melbourne 
is
a pleasant town close to everything in central Florida. While not
as frenetic as Orlando or Miami, this area boasts great shopping,
wonderful beaches, a quaint downtown area & one hour travel time to
Disney, Sea World & other attractions. You can be on the Gulf
Coast in two hours for a completely different Florida feeling with fabulous sunsets.
My reason for
moving here was to escape the
"big city" pressure of Miami
& also to have greater surfing opportunities. The other charms
of my new home were the "old Florida" feel of the different
neighborhoods. Ancient Oaks, Spanish Moss, wandering creeks & the grasslands to the
west. All of this while being a technology center just 1/2 hour
from Kennedy Space Center. 
The pics of the
birds were shot in my back yard just off of Crane Creek. The Blue Heron had a nest in
the Australian Pine just to the east of my cottage.
Lately the
baby has been getting flying lessons & is feeling quite proud of
himself! The Pelicans are my security force, repelling all
attempted assaults by pirates, revenuers, etc. 
Here is
a shot of two manatees competing for a drink from the hose at the
dock. They really love fresh water from the tap! Click

I lived in the
cottage on Crane Creek for a year & it was a wonderful
experience. Just imagine being totally immersed in nature
the moment you step out your door! What a great place to
chill.
